Canyoning in Réunion
CANYON YELLOW FLOWERS
The legendary descent into the heart of the cirque of Cilaos!
Dug by water into the geology of the Piton des Neiges, the route is a succession of abseils in a gorge of magnificent colours, crossing turquoise pools of water, sunny all the way and offering superb views over Cilaos.
The highlight comes after a few abseils from 12 to 20 metres. Once you're familiar with the technique, it's time for the big 55-metre abseil (impressive but technically easy), which gives you a breathtaking view of Cilaos.
Access is quick and the return journey, which is a bit more challenging, is an integral part of the activity! After a picnic lunch at the foot of the canyon, we return to the vehicle via a magnificent but steep and sometimes vertiginous path (about 1 hour).
One of the island's benchmark canyons, not recommended for those with an uncontrollable fear of heights, and requiring a minimum level of physical fitness to enjoy the entire route. The key words: verticality and contemplation!
